Long term residence permit can be issued to foreigners who have resided in Turkey for at least 8 years without interruption. In order to be granted long term residence, in addition to the 8 year residence requirement, the foreigner must also meet the following conditions:
Not having received social assistance in the last 3 years
Having sufficient and regular income to support himself/herself or his/her family.
Having valid health insurance
Does not pose a threat to public order or security.
Foreigners holding long term residence permits are privileged. Foreigners holding long-term residence permits are given certain rights, unlike other foreigners. Transactions regarding subjects such as residence, travel, work, investment, commercial activity, inheritance, acquisition and renunciation of personal and real estate in Turkey are applied like Turkish citizens.
The documents required for long-term residence permit application are as follows.
Application Form
Passport copy (The pages that show the identity information and the page with the photo, as well as the entry-exit and visa information.) (The original must be with you on the day of application)
4 biometric photos (Taken within the last 6 months, the background must be white and biometric.)
Copy of the prior residence permit (the original must be with you on the day of application)
The original of the e-signed/signed and stamped/sealed document showing that social assistance has not been received in the last three years (It can be obtained from the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations within the Governorships/District Governorates.)
Written, signed and ratified statement that you have sufficient and regular financial means during your stay.
Criminal record
Document/receipt showing that the residence card fee has been paid
Valid health insurance
Document showing that the applicant is registered to AKS
