All pets must have pet passport in order to travel abroad. It is possible to obtain a pet passport for your pets so that they can travel with you anywhere. The procedures for obtaining a pet passport is very simple in Turkey and anyone can obtain a pet passport.

Pet cats or dogs can travel abroad in the company of their owners, with their passports approved by the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association, after undergoing certain health procedures.

In order to start the process of going abroad, first make sure that all vaccinations of your pet are complete. For this, you need to have your pet's vaccination card with you. Since the pet passport shows your pet's diseases and vaccinations until then, if you have the "vaccination card", the passport will also be ok.

Do not neglect the microchip process of your pet buddy, because this process is carried out under the EU conditions within the scope of the Rabies Titration Test. Your pet is not accepted into the country until 3 months after the result of this test. For this reason, go to a veterinarian at least 4-5 months before you go abroad, get a rabies vaccine and a chip. There is such an application because it takes a certain time for the vaccine to form sufficient antibodies.

Do not worry; inserting a chip under the skin is an extremely easy and painless procedure. Your pet is registered to you with the barcode number provided with this process. For this reason, you can stick the barcode number on the pet passport in order not to lose it.

To be cautious, start your travel procedures early on. For this, first go to your veterinarian and say that you want to go abroad with your pet. After informing the veterinarian about the pet passport, chip and rabies vaccine, a small tube of blood will be drawn from your pet for the Rabies Titration Test. A certain fee is paid for this, and this fee may vary from veterinarian to veterinarian.

Before this process, you also need to pay a fee to the Veterinary Control Center Research Institute of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. You can go to the vet with your receipt and get the procedure done quickly. After this process, the veterinarian completes the required form and sends the photocopy of the pet passport and the blood sample for necessary tests. About a week later, the veterinarian receives the result and your waiting period of 3 months begins. Remember; keeping this result will be useful for your international trips.

On or after the three months are up, go to the Provincial or District Directorate of Agriculture with the documents (test result and passport) and your little friend to check whether the chip works. Then pay the requested fee by filling out the form where you will provide your own information and your pet's information. Then, if there is no problem, a report will be created that you can go abroad. However, your pet must leave Turkey within 10 days. For this reason, you should have these procedures done at least 10 days before your travel date.
